Lately a single-again friend asked me if I mind ending up being with a guy who earns lesser than me… hmmm, good question? Eh, I think if nothing were to go wrong, most probably I’ll be marrying a guy who most likely will earn less than me? Wohohohoho…
honestly we’ve no problems with that. We munch on love… wahahahaha… :)
Living in Singapore means that if you were to hook up with a local guy of the same age, ceteris paribus, most likely the chances are that you’ll earn more than the guy. I’m not saying that we girls are smarter (although sometimes we really are..wohohohohoo), just that don’t forget we’ll always be 2 years ahead of the guys after JC or poly (read: guys go ns). Of cos, there’ll be exceptions noted, like the guy being a super outstanding scholar with a super accelerated shining future ahead, or he being a son of a property magnate/ owner of a supermarket chain/ tycoon or any of the sorts… blah blah blah..
but then again how often do we get to hook up with such shiny medals? Even if we do get to meet them, cupid might miscue and shoot the arrow elsewhere.
Is such income disparity really an issue? Maybe I’m a hopeless romantic. As much as I aspire to live a life like a taitai after marriage, a couple of hundreds bucks really don’t bother me (hello, have you ever seen a taitai fret over a couple of hundreds bucks?). As long as both can click, comfy with each other’s company, and most importantly there’s love, I think it’ll be a story of happily ever after. Lalalalalalala… Afterall it’s easier to find $$$ than love these days.
Maybe it takes a disparity of a couple of ten thousands bucks to totally eliminate any romantic chances… but really, as long as you’re happy :)
