Today was our very first pool lesson Woo~ although it was an increasingly popular sport, I didn't know it was this popular. The pool was really damned packed. We were like in an overpopulated fishtank, trying hard to swim without banging into each others' head.
Was pretty excited initially even after the squeezy swim and tiring treading water test. It was all until I had to put on the gear... It's not as cool as what you see in tv, magazine or watever/ whoever. I tell you, it was REALLY heavy. Especially the oxygen tank, I felt like I was carrying a big fatso on my back. Each step I took was small and slow. I couldn't even bend a bit of my knees. Don't even mention picking up my fins from the floor. Tilt half a degree back and I'll fall back and die. But thank goodness, everything turned weightless in water. For once, I really appreciate physics.
Breathing in water solely through the mouth wasn't as easy as what I've thought to be too. Drank several mouthful of the pool water...eerk, it was disgusting considering I could clearly see through my mask strands of hair, particles and such being stirred up in the water in constant motion by the movements of all the eager diver wannabes.
It really took me quite a while to adjust to the way I should breathe and move in water. Everything has to be calm and slow. Having to know how to swim isn't really an added advantage at least for me. Swimming and diving are really 2 totally different skill sets.
As much as I'm excited and looking forward to our trip this weekend, I'm nervous as well. Must start drilling my instructor's words into my head, Don't panick. Stop and Think. And keep taking slow and deep breaths through your mouth...Wooo...Ssss....Wooo...Ssss... think, breathe, think....wooooo....Sssssss....woooo...Ssssss.....
