Happened to be watching the TV at a friend's place together with some other friends that day. And it happened to be showing the trailer for the upcoming Superstar finals. As I moved to make myself more comfy in the couch, those who were knocked out in the previous rounds started appearing in the screen one by one.
When the face of the most loathing, out-of-pitch, thinks-she's-gorgeous (pui!) super-reject was flashed on TV, I smiled and extremely enjoyed the few seconds watching the totally defeated loser cry. Wohohoho, see, the good will always triump over the bad... wohohohoho.. This is the moment! Just then, my friend (or rather friends' friend?) next to me clinged onto her boyfriend's arm and commented,
"What a pity that she lost... sighhh..."
"Hello, are you okay? Come on, She's the lousiest of all! Look at her, man!!..."
"No lah, she's the best. She's soooo Swwwweeeeet...."
"... ..."
Oh mi god, I was so out of breath that I wanted to faint. From that moment onwards, I knew we'll never be good friends despite that we've known each other for more than 4 years and counting. Don't say I've never tried ok. Over the many gatherings that we've been to, I've tried making small talks and be friendly (hey, I still remember her saying she hates cats ok, can?).
By logic if my friend is able to connect with the friend, and I can connect with my friend, I should be able to connect with the friend right? But this is it. Somehow there are just some friend's friends, no matter how hard you try, you'll never be able to connect but yet are trapped forever in your life.
